Sustainable Design
Our designs are born to be minimalistic and timeless. The clean lines and classical cuts combined with the highest quality craftsmanship make real sustainable design possible. We aim to make our wardrobe carry quality, not quantity – this is achieved by relying on the fabrics unique characteristics and on creating pieces that are not limited by occasion and location. We try to give you the freedom and the possibility of self-expression through creating your own looks, that describe best who you are.
In our designs we only use natural materials (GOTS-certified cotton and OEKO-TEX certified linen), that have been grown and produced without using harmful chemicals and therefore safe for human health throughout the whole life-cycle. Natural linen and organic cotton, when reaching the end of their use are both biodegradable.
In our production we leave no fabric piece behind, everything is used in production and therefore we have minimised our ecological footprint. In our production we use the on-demand principle and we try not to overproduce, so we can be more flexible to the customer’s wishes, offer highest quality possible ,and have a smaller ecological footprint.
Quality over quantity. All products are made with tailor quality and created piece by piece with the highest care. The craftsmanship and love going into every product is a standard we want to keep and pursue, to offer you long lasting pieces. When choosing the fabrics, one of the main points we look at is long lasting quality. We want to create a conscious consumption model, where you can be sure that everything you buy will last you for a long time.
All our designs are born and produced in Estonia by industry professionals adhering to high-quality and Fair Trade principles, which gives us the control we need in order to provide our clients with full transparency and security throughout the whole process. We keep good working conditions and fair wages so that the craftsmanship of creating pieces can strive.
Eco-friendly packaging by using recycled paper bags and hangtags. All our care labels are made from natural cotton and therefore biodegradable and soft against your skin.
Zero-waste production process
The zero-waste production process is one of the cornerstones of our brand. Our every decision is made in honour of and in symbiosis with nature. We use all of our leftover fabrics and redirect them into new designs to minimise our ecological footprint. In our production process, we separate all leftover fabrics by colours and reuse them depending on the quantity by making small details for kids, women, and home products.
We feel responsible for the life cycle of our designs and find transparency to be an important part of our production process. That is why we have made a conscious decision to only use natural organic fabrics and not to promote artificial ones. In addition, our hang tags are made from recycled paper, making sure that our actions support the movement to make the fashion industry cleaner for future generations.
Fabrics
OEKO-TEX certified fabrics
For our linen products, we use OEKO-TEX certified fabrics. By choosing these fabrics, we can be certain that the materials are tested for harmful substances and are therefore harmless to human health. We source the linen fabric from our suppliers in Lithuania.
Linen is in perfect symbiosis with our skin, because it has thermoregulatory qualities, which means that it lets our skin breathe while also cooling us in summer and keeping us warm in winter.
This material is also a healthy option for sensitive or allergy-prone skin, supporting the whole family’s health and well-being.
Many fear the wrinkling properties of linen, but with our extensive experience, we think the contrary and see it as one of its charming properties. The natural properties of the fabric give it character and help in reflecting the personality of the wearer. We feel it in our core to raise awareness of the linen fabric and show its great suitability for everyday use.
In addition, we also use OEKO-TEX certified cotton-linen blend fabrics, which are produced in Spain. With the cotton-linen blend fabric, we wish to give customers the opportunity to gradually move towards using linen fabric. Having the same texture and softness as linen and at the same time being easily maintainable as cotton.
GOTS certified fabrics
Our cotton products are made from organic cotton, which is GOTS certified. All our designs are allergen-free and feel soft against the skin, to provide freedom and support to our everyday life.
The GOTS certified organic cotton which we use in our designs is manufactured in Turkey. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibers. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well. And at the same time, it guarantees that the fabric is skin and environment-friendly and therefore supports the betterment of our everyday life.
Quality over quantity
It is important for us to be transparent in all of our processes and thus we are trying to give our customers more knowledge on what they are consuming and who they are supporting. We have made a conscious choice to be a slow fashion brand, which means that we do not categorise our products by season. All our products are designed according to our customers needs and by consideration of comfort, which allows us to offer best solutions and premium quality.
At Muulin our principles are to only use materials made from natural fibers. The qualities of cotton and linen clothing allows them to be in symbiosis with the wearers body and are much more skin-friendly comparing to materials made from artificial fibers.
To implement the slow fashion approach and be more sustainable, we have decided to offer our customers the option of backorders, pre-orders and special orders. This approach allows us to focus on the demands of our customers more personally and help to change the wardrobes more quality bearing, rather than quantity.
The classical nordic design language gives our products timeless value, that allows the products to be worn for many years by different generations and are not limited by occasions. All Muulin’s designs are born and produced in Estonia by industry professionals adhering to high-quality and Fair Trade principles, which gives us the control we need in order to provide our clients with full transparency and security throughout the whole process.
Labels
We consider every smallest detail in our design process in the effort of finding more environmentally friendly solutions.
Since autumn of 2020 all of our care labels are made from natural cotton, which makes the wearing experience much more pleasant. Mainly the care labels in the fashion industry are made from polyester, which is a synthetic petroleum-based fiber thats produced from carbon-intensive non-renewable resource. As a material polyester is non bio-degradable and is permanently damaging for the eco-system.
MUULIN hangtags are made from recycled paper, giving used paper a new life-cycle. Using a recycled paper rather than newly produced paper is much more environmentally friendly – sparing life-forms and ecosystems.
